Antioch College Closing

Wed Jun 13, 2007 at 12:53:59 PM PDT

OK, this might not seem expressly political if you aren't familiar with the school, but trust me on this one.  antioch is almost certainly the most radical school in the country, creates activists and at least people who give a fuck faster than harvard creates lawyers.  and it's gone out on the alumni listserve that the school is closing in a year.

i'll post the letters by the president and bob devine below the fold.

To MeetUp, or Not To MeetUp

Tue Jan 06, 2004 at 12:25:15 PM PDT

ok, this is actually two questions, as it can be answered for me personally as well as for people in general (and it's my first diary, so be nice).  and on to the show...

i've been following the dean campaign for about a year, saw him speak at a rally a while back, am on both regional and national mailing lists, i spend too mcuh time on dkos, and generally see myself as a pretty informed deaniac.  but i've never been to a meetup, and i'm thinking maybe i should go to meet others with my similar obsession.

but (there's always a but), i have a disability that, along with the stylish wheelchair and cane ensemble, makes my hands shake, which makes my handwriting illegible, which makes it pretty useless for me to handwrite much of anything, especially letters to voters.

so, do you think it's worthwhile for me to go if i can't write letters, which from what i'm hearing is a fairly large part of the event (and doesn't sound like much of a spectator sport)?  and in larger sense, do you see meetups as more of a meet and greet and get to know your candidate, or are they substantial enough that those of us who know the campaign (for whichever candidate) can still get something out of it?  any thoughts would be much appreciated.
