As you may have read on Kos a week or two ago, students have been protesting round-the-clock outside the Frist Campus Center at Princeton University, denouncing the "Nuclear Option" being pushed by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Class of 1974.
After more than 300 hours, the "filibuster" is still going strong. On Wednesday, we will begin "Phase 2"...
- We have been filibustering for over 300 hours straight (since 11:00am on Tuesday, April 26) - almost TWO WEEKS.
- We've been joined by many distinguished visitors including:
- Two congressmen: (D-NJ) Rush Holt and (D-NJ) Frank Pallone
- Staffers representing Senators Jon Corzine (D-NJ), Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
- Nobel Laureate Frank Wilczek
- Numerous other guests including PA Senate candidate Chuck Pennachio, Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, two council-members, a municipal chair, comedian Jeff Kreisler, many university professors and even a 3 hour live performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with a nearly full cast by the "Filibuster Players"
- We have received national media attention from CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, Fox News, ABC News, The UK Guardian, Philadelphia Inquirer, Associated Press, Air America Radio, The Nation, and much more.
- On Tuesday (tomorrow), we will be making a major announcement about our plans for "Phase 2." We are currently raising funds for the next phase, and are well on our way to meeting our goal ($4,401.35 of the $5,000 as of 3:30 pm).
Our website is constantly updated with new content including video highlights of filibuster participants, an extensive listing of our media coverage, a schedule of guest speakers and events, photos of participants, a live web cam image, and much more:
