MSNBC reports that Hillary Clinton Deputy Campaign Director Mike Henry has resigned.

Maybe losing all those states that didn't matter actually mattered after all.

Meanwhile, Ed Rendell says his state is racist.

              That's the contrast: agree or disagree, it's pretty clear what Obama's doing: using his skills to appeal to those disenchanted with the Democratic brand in order to put together a nonpartisan consensus to implement progressive reforms.

              With the Clinton campaign, it's: "I work hard" "I'm competent" "I know what the presidency's like" - it all boils down to "trust me, I'll deal with it."  It's an opaque strategy, hinged on trusting the skills of one person, and it stands in stark contrast to Obama's commitment to transparency and appeals to voters to join and endorse a progressive mandate.

      although I'm not sure he did anyone any favors by making it.  I've spent a stack of time in "North Alabama", i.e. central PA, and it can be pretty weird for those of us who don't see a lot of blatant discrimination.  Time will tell.

      What I don't get is Kos sneering at a popular and apparently competent Governor who is quite probably telling the truth as he sees it.  Very sad.

          one of my sisters lives north of Philly &, as a left coaster, I feel as though I've been transported in time when I visit (which I have done at considerable length, because my former work frequently had me in Philly/central PA/Jersey).  Of course, the same goes for Cincinnati, where another sister lives; but, generally speaking, central PA takes the cake where what I thought were "out-moded" racial and gender attitudes are concerned.

          Sad that it may impinge on the election, but, as an HRC supporter (kinda), I guess this isn't a lot worse than the sexism and unfounded animus she faces.  Indeed, I'm beginning to suspect that racial animus is less prevalent than gender-based discrimination:  in general, I think members of a racial grouping are less likely to screw their own than women sometimes can be.  But what do I know:  I'm a male WASP.

      Pick any group of "average" self-selected, Americans. The Lions Club. The US Navy. The Boy Scouts (okay, institutionally homophobic, bad call). In the privacy of the voting booth, 5% expressing a politically incorrect prejudice is a small estimate.

      Hell, later this month, I'm supposed to go to my Family Association dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year. Five hundred Chinese-Americans over-eating and I guarantee you that 30% of us believe that every blond, blue-eyed kid at U.C. Berkeley represents a more deserving Chinese kid that didn't get in because the white kids father donated a library, or is the son of someone with pull.

      Five percent? Rendell was being generous.

        By the way, PA Democrats are my kind of Democrats, as I share most of their backgrounds- blue-collar, ethnic, union, Catholic- and sure there are racists in this demographic, but its stupid to point that out.

        Maybe he doesn't have to resign, but I'm surprised he was elected Governor with this degree of political stupidity.

      It was something else for a while as well, with a dead link, but was obviously the same story.

      Hillary needs to do some damage control on this, but then she's probably busy with damage control on tonight's numbers.
