the bush administration has set the watermark very low. It would hard to be lower than they. Reid & Pelosi, as angered as I am at them, have a long way to go to qualify for "worst leaders ever," IMHO.

Denny Hastert, and I could go on.
I can agree that Pelosi and Reid have been bad, not to mention disappointing, leadership. But worst ever? Sorry, I would have to look at a comprehensive list of past leaders and think that those two would score better than a lot. That's the unfortunate thing -- we've had and could still get worse.
And my understanding is that, once elected, the loyalty pledged is to the Constitution, not to the party.
I expect my senators and congresscritter to represent all the people, with their particular twist. I expect the same of the leaders. I also expect to disagree with candidates/leaders I support occasionally.

Harry needs his ass kicked all the way out of the Senate.
please let the Dodd people know that we want him to take over the Majority Leader position as soon as we can find the way to push Harry out.
And we'll take Wexler as Speaker.
Now let's make those calls and create a lot of noise!

Is there anything in the recorded history of the US Senate where a senator from the Democratic Party had to filibuster his own majority leader because the leader didn't have enough courage to either NOT bring the bill to a vote or to tell the powers that be that they can go screw themselves because they are not going to destroy the US Constitution under his watch?
by victoria2dc on Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 09:19:46 PM PDT
As we chanted in the late 60s, early 70s:
Hey, hey, ho, ho Status Quo has got to go!
I wish more of men and women dems would get a clue. If they don't care enough to fix the country, we will vote in those who will and get the democracy we are entitled to! You know, the type the Constitution, Declaration and Bill of Rights keeps referring to. It's in that little brown book I carry in my purse.
If you don't have one, buy one. Heck, send them to your critters in Washington! Maybe it'll jog their memory!

It's too bad the country didn't get to see Dodd stand up for the constitution like this right at the beginning of the Presidential race instead of late in the game and now that he's out. I liked him more and more as time went on, but this would have surely put him front and center.
