As a resident of the Central Valley I was quite surprised (and pleased) this morning when I opened the paper and saw the endorsement for Edwards.
Fresno is a notoriously "conservative" area and the Bee's editorials often reflect this.
All I know is that my in-laws must have been choking on their oatmeal this morning when they opened to the Editorial page.
I don't understand it, but the vitriol reserved for Edwards is even greater than that directed at the Clintons. Whoo-boy don't get me started there!

He challenges their way of life. The "haves" have been pampered for quite some time now and they've grown accustomed to it. Think about how they've accused liberals for the past 3 decades of having an "entitlement" attitude. This is how THEY have become. They believe they are entitled to low capital gains rates, negligible corporate taxes, big business - government sweetheart deals, and cheap plentiful labor.
John Edwards threatens to take away some of their toys, and they're ready to throw a tantrum at the mention of his name. Makes perfect sense, just watch 3 year olds at play and you know all you need to know about Republican philosophy - "MINE!"

Clinton and Obama should conceed right now, because with a powerhouse like the Fresno Bee backing Edwards, endorsements from Wes Clark and Oprah Winfree are worthless.
This is going to turn around everything. It's all going according to Edwards' Plan.

Is that you?
Yes, unfortunately Edwards is not that great a threat to the establishment candidates. That doesn't mean that you have to be an asshole about it. Your sig line, for example, is garbage. Grow up.
And btw, its "concede", not "conceed". (The little dotted red line should give you a clue that maybe your alternative spelling isn't up to snuff.)

Any system I've used for DKos posting displays a dotted red underline of misspelled or unrecognized words. It may be related to browser settings I guess.

...with a dotted red underline.
Firefox...pretty ironic given your moniker.
A simple explanation. No need to harass anyone, is there?

Butte and Glenn Counties - a "notoriously "conservative" area..." , but boy would I welcome an endorsement for John Edwards from our little rag, the "Chico Enterprise Record".
The endorsement from the Bee reflects Edwards smart, in depth policy ideas for farm and rural areas.
Oh sure, many will laugh at Fresno, after all, all they do there is grow your food.
