If I had only known this last Christmas........... my daughter would be alive this Christmas. She was murdered in March by a repeat abuser that a judge and prosecutor has let out of jail on an O.R. Bond.

I offered a prayer for her and for you in my Christmas diary last night. I am so sorry about your daughter. I am in tears again, thinking about her, and about you. I did NOT want to write this, but I thought it had to be said ~ those of us who have suffered abuse NEED to come forward and speak, because there are so many misconceptions about abuse victims.
I pray so often for you, dear Zwoof, and for your daughter. I am so very sorry.

A beautiful prayer.
I'm so happy that you are able to tell your story here.

Please know that your daughter's experience inspired this diary; I am ashamed of what happened, but your daughter's story helped me to tell mine. Bless you.

So, so sorry. Such a cruel loss for you.....and so often the system does fail the women who most need protection.
My prayers and sympathy are with you, and I weep with you for the loss of your precious daughter.

Such a beautiful picture.......and the adorable baby! Such pain as you must be feeling is beyond the ability to comprehend.
Thank you for the honor of sharing Alicia with us, dear Zwoof. I weep for your pain and your loss, and I pray for comfort and peace for you and your family.

I can't think of anything to say as I'm sure somehow those words would somehow feel so superficial and distant.
It's strange that I've only lost a few relatively distant friends or relatives, so I have not yet had to deal with anything similar to this.
A few years back, on of my best friends who I became out of contact with took his own life. His parents were perfect, he was far more intelligent than me, made more money too. So, that week before I found out, for some strange reason I thought of him, that I should contact him. He always had his number unlisted but I used to get it from his parents, but I though his parents had moved elsewhere, so I didn't.
Still hard to make sense of it, but nice to know that people like these have been part of our lives, and somehow they're still close by, in memory and our hearts.

I cannot begin to comprehend the difficulty you have faced in dealing with a loss like this. Prayers, thoughts, and a cyberhug.

May you find peace somehow in the belief that she is now at peace.

What a loss to you and your grandchild. Three beautiful generations that in a fairer, more just world, would get to live out their lives together until, as the Dalai Lama puts it, "the fruit ripens".
I know that world exists only in our dreams, but hopefully, if we can work well together we can help make that dream more of a reality.
Peace, Zwoof. I can only imagine that it is difficult to come by for you, but I hope you have found some sort of peace.

I am so sorry. I have no words to express how my heart is broken to read your story. Speachless.
I send you all the strength I have, so that you can bring justice to your daughters' memory.
Peace and strength of a warrior to you. Peace and strength of a Buddha to you.
Namaste.

in D.C. area this year where this kind of thing happened to a woman whose male partner or husband was either not sufficiently restrained or not restrained at all. In at least one case, the woman was doused with gasoline and set on fire. Absolutely disgusting and horrifying.
It sounds like your daughter was victimized 2x, once by her assailant, and once by an at-best insensitive system.

This must be so raw still. I am so sorry that the system let you both down.
That must have been incredibly difficult to write. Bless you.
