I wish I were in playing shape :(. Off to the gym, I suppose.

Too funny!
This might be a good time to bring this vid out again.
I trust Barack Obama.

That is clutch.

The ability to perform under pressure is key for a presidential candidate and future president.

I look forward to seeing some pickup games at the white house.

This is the perfect story for the Politics/Basketball fan....and hopefully the perfect metaphor for the race ahead...
Ya know, I was kinda on the fence, but--if he dunked when he was 16, what choice do I really have?
King James for a State Visit???

I doubt if Obama plays him on the court though. We may have to question his judgment in that case!

Go Barack Obama

I dunked when I was 16 (those were the days; now it's a good day if I can get high enough just to hang on the rim)). Will you support me for prez?
There are a lot of reasons to support Obama, but the fact that he's good at bball relative to other candidates seems very low on the list. Tell me you were joking when you said that his being able to dunk at 16 moved you off of the fence.

in my cheek, my brother!!! I've been a strong Obama supporter--this just adds a very cool bit of icing to the cake for a b-ball fan like me!!!

Sorry for missing the tongue in cheek. What can I say? Post-holiday brain coma.

Basketball? Why not riding in a tank or cleaning his gun on a hunting trip. If Guliani can wear a dress, Obama can certainly play basketball.
I'm sooo tired of hearing the media spout about "Maverick McCain the war hero."
by mperloe on Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 03:16:41 PM PDT
the photo ops with world leaders would take place on the newly minted White House courts.
Imagine the sweatshirt wars (Putin wearing "Dynamo Moscow" and Obama in "Bulls"), the colors and shoe statements.
I like it!!!

but the sports analogies - playing under pressure and all that - are not so convincing to me. I'm glad he's in shape, competitive and a good sport, but that's about all one can infer from a sports diary.
God, who gave man scabies, also gave him hands to scratch them.
by ivorybill on Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 12:47:57 PM PDT
And as a non-sports-enthusiast myself (besides baseball), I am seriously impressed at how he performs under pressure.
by casperr on Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 12:49:49 PM PDT
I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting that because he hits a nice three to win a bet, he can face down our "enemies" or some such.
by turneresq on Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 12:52:55 PM PDT
is that it's all in the spirit of fun, and a lighthearted diary.
I don't even understand basketball, but a lighthearted diary is a welcome diversion.
Be a hope monger.

Hopefully it is taken in the spirit it is offered, and not as a claim he is "ready to lead" or something like that.

may I also recommend I met Barack Obama's sister Maya by raatz (one of our Hawai'an dkoses) - it's a nicely written, first hand account from a long time dkos contributor. It was posted several hours ago & wasn't seen by many. ```` peace

reporter. It tells you all you need to know about Obama----the determination, the poise, the appealing personality, the winning ways. Come on Iowa! Look at the opportunity you have this time---a chance to give the best we've ever seen a great send-off----and this country and the world will take notice.
