my birth. I was supposed to have been born around December 12th. My folks decided that they would not decorate the house, since my mom was likely to be in the hospital for Xmas. they waited and waited and finally bought a tree. Then my mom went into labor. they did not let her out of the hospital til the 27th. I, on the other hand, had a drive-by delivery with Son 3. I was out of the birthing center less than 3 hours after he was born.

Is ON Christmas (Dec 25!) He has to split the day in two, so the morning is his birthday, and we get together and have quiche, champaign and cherry pie (all his favorites) and the afternoon is "the big guy's" birthday where we open our presents. It's a fun tradition!

Was it Steven Wright who said something or other about being sad because he had no shoes until he met a man with no feet?
Goofy as that joke is, it's one I'm trying to take to heart -- don't forget cherish the good things in your life while you wallow in the stuff you're unhappy about. I hate my job but I have a job and it's a job whose salary gets my mortgage paid each month.
There will be a better job for me hopefully sooner rather than later but I'm in a far better position than the dear family member who got laid off this month and is not in a position to weather a long bout of unemployment which I fear might happen as his fortunes were tied to the state of the real estate market (architecture)

Your posts talk lovingly and proudly about your sons and you also appear to be happily ensconced in an academic niche of archeology. So what if the knees now crack a bit when you bend down to start gingerly brushing the dirt from that pottery shard?
