We're doing it. Corporatism is the word on everyone's lips these days. And oddly enough, we're even starting to hear about it on CNN and MSNBC.
John Edwards has made it the focus of our collective anger. He's brought the word into our households and awakened so many. Voters are feeling empowered for the first time.
The Bush administration, in all its rot, has shone a light into this nightmare.
Many others have gone before Edwards, speaking out.
But as Ralph Nader said, Edwards is the first mainstream candidate he's seen in years to put forth progressive postitions.
Hillary and Obama are starting to get it and trying to play catch-up, but that may not be enough.

and your use of "Praetorian" in this context implies that you've already figured this out. They got to the point where their Praetorians selected the Emperor.
Though a more local scenario is in the context of Richistani buying remote retreats to wait out the fall and recovery of civilization ... what keeps the armed security with all the guns from working out their labor/management disputes by standing their employers against a wall and shooting them if they don't have to worry about the law?
