Cheers to Bill for all he does and the excellence with which he does it, and to his charming partner in life, Michael, who obviously contributes to the excellence.
Cheers to local libraries. I spent a few hours in the Presidio branch library yesterday, randomly reading and people watching. I am glad to report this small library is well used by a wide variety of people, all of whom appeared to be finding what they needed, and the staff (mostly young) is friendly and helpful. It was relatively apparent that for some the library is a refuge from less kind environs and for others a treasure trove filled with books and videos and DVD’s, all of which can be checked out for further enjoyment. I’ll keep voting to fund the neighborhood libraries and keep them open.
Jeers to dry, dry, dry weather stretching out from here to forever. I want some rain dammit. I am tired of hearing about yet another gloriously sunny (and therefore "beautiful") day. I want some of that "frightful weather" I’ve heard about in songs and commercials. You know, that holiday weather that makes it feel delightful to be inside by the fire.
Cheers to finally getting the pigeons off our street. Oh, they’re still in the neighborhood, but I don’t have to deal with them swooping and going crazy right outside my window.
Cheers to all of us gathering here to start off the day with some cheers, some jeers, some reflections on life, and a full measure of snark, humor and silliness. Have a great Tuesday everyone and be careful as you make your way to your holiday destination.

Indulge my raves about the weather today because the bottom is dropping out of the temperature tomorrow and it's going to rain, rain, rain until it starts with snow flurries. So hang in there.
Have a great Thanksgiving.

for some of that rain as soon as you are done with it. Cheers back to you and a happy Thanksgiving!

Aren't libraries wonderful? We are getting a branch library by 2010, just a matter of blocks from our house, and it is better than Christmas and birthdays all together! I love your Cheers & Jeers, and would post my own, but mcjoan arrived last night (good thing she didn't wait till today, as we woke up to snow), and I am going to surprise her with a pot of coffee waiting for when she gets up. The light is on under her door and she is already on the old laptop. "Happy Bird Day and Happy eating all!"

librarians, I thank you both mcmom and vigilantmeerkat.
I grew up in libraries and they are definitely the best places on earth. There's nothing like the smell of a library...and the hush.
(Though as I grew up and into the consumer world I tend to spend more time in bookstores these days, alas. I've become somewhat addicted to Barnes and Nobles.)
