Here's the lay of the land: I've been on several times already. The audience likes me a lot. Life here is GREAT. This was a fantastic move. The audience appears to really like me. Talk radio is easier than I thought it would be, and also different. You can't walk in and sit down as a political operative. You have to establish your personality, and then they can understand why your politics proceeds from that. Example. Thursday was the Great American Smokeout. I was on for an hour as a fill in (I do that a lot) and mostly did that (along with Julie's diabetes which tied to an event from the previous day, nightmares, and leg cramps) and allowed as how I felt I wanted to quit. The phones were great and carried a lot of it. The following day, a MA State Senator, Joan Menard, came to the station as I was outside smoking a cigarette and she smiled and shook her finger at me and said, 'Eddie, I thought you said you were going to quit." Fun stuff. Friday, I did "bad landlord horror stories" and I got a bunch of those, and also "bad tenant horror stories" from landlords as well, and I got to throw myself on my sword for not setting it up like that in the first place. I'd say politics is about 55 to 60% of what I've done so far. the rest? Stuff like that, and the kids, and funny topicals...just....life, man. People are beginning to call the desk and react to me too, there have been a number of these calls (like 4 or 5 that I know of), all women for whatever reason, and they all say the same thing: I make them laugh and smile. I'm really, really getting to like this, and becoming more confident and at ease by the day. I also showed them a quick and dirty way to feed the studio PC audio into the board. No one ever bothered to try and figure it out, they just assumed they needed an engineer to do it. They like me. Just wait till I show hem how cheap and easy it would be to stream their stuff - by DOING it. Anyway, Friday I sub for the midday conservative guy (Barry), and I'm going to explode heads and attack attack attack. I already humiliated one fucker on a day where a rather mild liberal was subbing for Barry. I felt like Charlie wasn't hard enough on him, so I jumped in the pool with guns blazing. He had devoted the last hour of his show to impeachment. Remember that this guy is subbing for a con, but he's a liberal. A NICE liberal. I, however, am NOT a nice liberal. Nope nope not me. So some asswipe fuckstick mouthbreather calls in and starts trying to threadjackoff into Clinton and Ted Kennedy. And I wasn't having it. I have a mike too. And I good and god-damned sure used it. A voice spoke in my head:
Instead, we need to just attack attack attack these bozos. Let's stop methodically explaining away and treating their filth as "quaintly innocent and naively misguided apprehensions." Liberals need to trivialize, marginalize, and belittle their political religious & cultural beliefs. Just shit on them maliciously until potatoes grow on top of their heads.

Keri, she who hired me, was out driving around at the time, and heard it all. When she came back, she was grinning like a fish. How do you like me NOW, darlin'? :) And Charlie? He spent the rest of that hour....a little dazed. Like I said, I'm NOT a pantywaist milquetoast liberal. I didn't get into talk radio to play nice with conservatives. I got into it to pummel, abuse, humiliate and discredit the fuckers. I come to bring pain. Because the bastards deserve it. Everything I can give, and more. I am an instrument of retribution. I am a burdizzo clamp. I am a claymore mine. Front. Toward. Enemy. Peace............. After, that is, I fuck them up.
That will be Friday. They're all mine.
And Monday, I start in for Keri three days a week while she is on maternity leave. She arranged a couple people for Thursdays and Fridays. Yesterday, she said to me something to the effect of, "Had I known you were going to get this good this fast, I'd not have enlisted them..."
This is frickin' great.
And Keri is going places. That girl is SCARY good, has subbed for Laura Flanders on AAR and Muppet Colmes on Fox Radio.
She wants to podcast, and have a better blog.
And she shall. Once she comes back from maternity leave....;)
