Left a comment for Senator Edwards.
I'm heading back to peruse the site some more. Impressive so far.

I was hoping to see the candidates interact with the comments. Was this part of the plan?
The site looks great, Brandon. Best of luck with it.

Only Ron Paul showing up from the Republican side. I guess we know which party "supports the troops" more.

At least McCain would show. Not only is he a vet, but he's got a kid who is a jarhead and another at the squid academy.

I can't go there at work today, but will read with interest tonight. Anything you can do to raise the profile of veterans' issues in this campaign will find a lot of support in this community.

We've all been wondering about the best approach to ending the occupation in Iraq. We don't have the votes in the Senate, and any bill with a timeline for withdrawal will simply be vetoed.
So it seems the only option left for us that's realistic is to simply not have a spending bill in the first place. The money will run out, and...... well, I'm not sure what would happen then. But that's what's being discussed on the blogs and elsewhere.
My question is, do you support this strategy? Or would it put our troops in even more danger, since many of us also feel Bush would try to play chicken with the lives of our troops by letting the money run out and keeping them in Iraq? Or would there be a military coup of this country before that were to happen?
What's your opinion on this?

anything that puts the troops in danger. I'm not opposed to cutting funding from a practical standpoint if--and only if--it could be shown that resources wouldn't be cut off from the field. So far, though, I haven't been shown any concrete way to do that legislatively. It seems to me that it could be done fairly easily, but then, I'm not an appropriations expert, either.

I'd say - don't authorize the normal DoD budget - no big planes, etc. Keep normal day-to-day operational stuff going. That includes armor, staffing, etc. And this might be controversial - get rid of the recruiters for a year.
Back off, reassess, take some time in evaluating. Put some of those retired generals back into decision making, power wielding positions.
Put any monies saved into Afghanistan.
Then again - I don't rule the world and have never been "Queen for a Day".
(For youngsters, that is a reference to a game show back in the day, winning a washer/dryer was a big thing).

...excellent work on your part! My fellow vets have an important voice that's been ignored for far too long.
Thank you for your efforts to get our voice out there.

You guys have really pushed the envelope this time.
Having posts by the Presidential candidates is a real score.
Veterans issues must be on the front burner as the new President takes office. He/she can not allow veterans to be treated as they have in the past.
A strong national defence starts with fair treatment of the people who give parts of their lives, and sometimes bodies serving our country.
Long live VetVoice!

You blow the GOP's false claim that they have the veteran's vote and support.
Veterans like myself don't appreciate GOP blocking troop rest, benefits, health care relief, and timelines to end this low level civil war.
